Transportation Staff Earn Regional Recognition At Regional Road-E-O

In May, seven of our transportation staff attended the Central Washington Association of Pupil Transportation (CWAPT) School Bus Road-eo in Sunnyside with two other state regions. This is a competitive obstacle course where drivers maneuver a school bus through 11 events.

The Yakima School District had the following members attend; President of CWAPT Region 105 and YSD Assistant Director of Transportation, Rich Porter; driver trainer and event judge, Margie Swallow; driver and event judge, Stephanie Olson; competing driver, Connor Desgrosellier; competing driver, Matt Faussett; competing driver, Cody Sutton; and competing driver, Freya Hall.

It was a fun day filled with comradery, fun, food, and festivities. The Yakima School District had two drivers place in the competition. Matt Faussett took first place and was given an opportunity to compete at the state-level annual conference at the end of June. Due to a date conflict, Matt Faussett will offer the opportunity to represent the Yakima School District to another of our drivers that scored fourth place in the event. Nice work, transportation team!
